After 32 Years, A Devoted McDonald’s Employee Gets A Beautiful Send-Off

After 32 Years, A Devoted McDonald’s Employee Gets A Beautiful Send-Off

Anyone who works a 32-year career is deserving of praise, especially if during those 32 years, they put their all into the job and work diligently and with pride.

And someone who certainly fits that bill is Freia David of Needham, Massachusetts. David worked the French fry station at her local McDonald’s for more than three decades, and is a beloved employee and friend.

Working at McDonald’s is, sadly, often dismissed as not “really” a job, but for many people, it’s a good, honest wage.

David also has Down Syndrome, which means that her employment also comes with extra challenges that other workers might not have to face.

But since 1984, when she was just 20 years old, she’s been heading to work every day, and serving fries to hungry customers.

There are a lot of misconceptions about Down Syndrome, and a lot of unfortunate stigma still attached to the condition. These days, more and more people with Down Syndrome are working to educate others about it, including smashing some false ideas and prejudices that some people might have.

David retired from her position on August 29 this year, and she was given a warm send-off at her retirement party from McDonald’s as well as the Needham community.

David’s career shows that no matter your challenges, you can carve a path for yourself, and her well-attended retirement party shows how wonderful it is when communities come together in support and celebration.

Check out the festivities below!

Freia David started working at the McDonald’s in Needham, Massachusetts in the 1980s.

She also lives in Needham, at the Charles River Center assisted living facility for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The Center partners with local businesses to provide employement, internships, and other opportunities to people with disabilities, giving them a chance to enrich their lives and be part of the community.

David worked at the Needham McDonald’s fry station for 32 years, 11am to 2pm, five days a week. During that time, she struck up friendships with many of the customers.

Now 52, David is retiring. And so her employers and the staff at the Charles River Center threw her a retirement bash befitting of such a dedicated employee.

David was honored at the McDonald’s where she worked, and the public was also welcome to drop by and enjoy some free French fries.

She was also awarded a certificate in recognition of her achievements.

Timothy McCoy, the owner-operator of the Needham McDonald’s said, “Freia’s smile, her enthusiasm, and her daily hugs made our restaurant more than just a restaurant.”

“She is loved and respected by all of our employees, customers, and anyone she has come into contact with,” McCoy continued.

“We are so sad that she is retiring, but very happy for the time we had to work with her. The McDonald’s of Needham will never be the same without Freia David.”

After retiring, David plans to continue her programs at the Charles River Center. She also enjoys drawing and listening to oldies music.

The Charles River Center has provided its residents with jobs for decades, and the staff couldn’t be prouder of David for her career.

They’re also proud of the over 80 other people with disabilities who are living and working in Needham

THE WHOLE WORLD IS IN TEARS, They Discovered What These 2 LINES on Ronaldo’s Head Mean

THE WHOLE WORLD IS IN TEARS, They Discovered What These 2 LINES on Ronaldo’s Head Mean

Christiano Ronaldo is not a very beloved player, especially after the misunderstanding that happened on the match between Portugal and Island on the EURO 2016 in France.

His actions were under scrutiny while the whole world was watching.

However, there is something about this player you don’t know which may make you change your mind about him.

Portugal didn’t manage to defeat the outsider Island and played a draw, leaving Ronaldo unable to prove he’s the best player in the world, just a few days after he said that he’s the best football player the world has seen in the last 20 years.

He paid for the treatment of an ill boy

Ronaldo was criticized for acting too much during the game and that he’s a sore loser.

Statistics wasn’t in his favor either and it’s no surprise he was upset by these accusations.

Many would agree that the Real Madrid player isn’t a crowd pleaser and that quite the opposite; he’s not well liked even by fans of the club.

It’s just that he has an annoying behavior both on the pitch and outside, often being arrogant and self-centered.

However, Ronaldo also has a gentler side, it seems.

When it comes to people in need or situations where he needs to step up and show his solidarity, Ronaldo always comes through.

This three times Ballon D’Or winner appeared with an unusual haircut on Tuesday at Saint-Etienne stadium – with 2 lines shaved on the side of his head.

When he appeared on the pitch the media started buzzing about what inspired this haircut, what do those lines mean and is there some symbolic behind them.

Speculations aside, it seems that Ronaldo shaved those two lines as a sign of solidarity for an ill boy.

The boy was suffering from cancer and Ronaldo was the one who paid for his treatment and surgery.

The boy in question underwent surgery which left him with two scars on the side of his head.

As a sign of support Ronaldo shaved two lines in the exact same place.

He may be arrogant and you may not like him as a player but you surely must admit there’s more to him that meets the eye.

Wife Doesn't Think Message On Car Asking For Kidney Will Work , Until She Gets A Call

Wife Doesn't Think Message On Car Asking For Kidney Will Work , Until She Gets A Call

Ennifer’s husband Peter was dying. He needed a kidney, but there were no donors or prospects, and he was dying. Taking a huge leap of faith, she wrote a message on her car. All it listed was a phone number, her husband’s blood type, and a plea to donate a kidney.

The couple shared the story with the local news, and that night, Kelly happened to be watching. She had the same blood type, O, as this total stranger. In heart, it felt like fate when she saw Peter’s three young daughters.

“My father died when I was young, and he was sick since I was 5. I knew what it was like to be them,” Kelly told WCVB. “His name is on that kidney. It’s his kidney.”

She called the number. Peter picked up and couldn’t believe it. Then, 10 minutes later, the husband had a stroke.

The journey wasn’t going to be easy, but Kelly wasn’t a quitter, and Peter was willing to fight for his life. Eventually, after a few setbacks, the pair went through with the surgery. It was a success.

Today, Peter regards Kelly as his new sister. The two now are forever bonded by the precious gift of life.

They hold hands as if they were old friends, knowing that nothing can come between them.

Video: Skeptics Say There Was A Time Traveler At A Mike Tyson Fight In 1995

Skeptics Say There Was A Time Traveler At A Mike Tyson Fight In 1995

There are many Mike Tyson fans who would give anything to be able to see one of his past fights in person, but would someone be willing to time travel to do so? Footage from a 1995 Tyson bout is prompting some to believe that a ‘time traveler’ was in attendance.

A clip of Mike Tyson’s boxing match in Las Vegas against Peter McNeeley in 1995 features a spectator with a device that looks a little out of place for the time. It appears that this spectator is filming the bout with a smartphone, which has sparked conspiracy theories

Considering the first camera phone wasn’t sold until 2000, it is unusual that this device looks similar to the smartphones we use today. YouTuber JammyBantam sparked the theories when he posted the footage to YouTube in September 2015.

‘I dunno if it’s a time traveler or not, but no one can explain what camera it is,’ JammyBantam writes in the video description. ‘A QV-100 doesn’t have a silver bit on the right, and this camera doesn’t seem to have a black line under the lens.’

The footage sent many people on a hunt of devices from the 90s to dispel the ‘time travel’ theories. YouTuber AllThings Creepy wrote, ‘I did some research and there were some very sophisticated camcorders for their time period that look somewhat like this.’

The Mike Tyson and Peter McNeeley fight was the highest grossing fight in history during the time, but a time traveler going back to film it on a smartphone seems just a little far fetched.

It’s most likely that this spectator was just filming the match on his new 90s camcorder, but there are certainly skeptics that think otherwise

The Harry Potter Cast: Then And Now

The first ‘Harry Potter’ film was released 15 years ago, in 2001. Based on the book by J.K. Rowling, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson remained faithful to the ‘Harry Potter’ series as they’ve played Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger in all the films.

Other notable actors from the series include:

  •     Tom Felton
  •     Matthew David Lewis
  •     Evanna Lynch
  •     Bonnie Wright

While some actors were accomplished before the series hit the big screen, others have the 7.7 billion dollar franchise to thank for kick starting their successful careers in show biz.

So, what is the rest of the legendary ‘Harry Potter’ cast up to now?

1. Matthew David Lewis is best known for his role in the fantasy series as Neville Longbottom. Lewis starred in the first ‘Harry Potter’ film when he was only 12-years-old. Today, the actor is 27-years-old and has appeared in all eight of the films. The talented actor has also appeared in the 2016 film, ‘Me Before You.’

2. Tom Felton is known for his villainous role as Draco Malfoy. Although he began acting in 1997, Felton’s road to stardom kicked off after his performance in J.K. Rowling’s film adaptations. Today, the 28-year-old actor is starring in a series called ‘The Flash,’ that’s premiering its third season later this year.

3. Evanna Lynch played the beautiful Luna Lovegood in the film series and appeared in the films tie-in video games. Today, the 24-year-old actress has dabbled into creating fashion accessories,  an audiobook, and has modelled for several magazines. Lynch was a huge fan of the ‘Harry Potter’ series before she was granted the opportunity to be apart of it.

4. Bonnie Wright is best known for playing the role of Ginny Weasley. At 25-years-old, the actress graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of the Arts: London College of Communication. Aside from her acting roles, Wright has also worked behind-the-scenes as a director for several films.

5. At only 14-years-old, these identical twins skipped their school exams to audition for the role of Greg and Fred Weasley. Luckily, James and Oliver Phelps stole the show despite their lack of acting experience. In February, they turned 30-years-old.

6. Chris Rankin was born on November 8th, 1983 in New Zealand. He’s known for his role as Percy Weasley in the ‘Harry Potter’ series. Acting at the age of 11-years-old, Rankin continues to work in production within the film industry.

7. Jamie Waylett, a.k.a. Vincent Crabbe, appeared in the film series from 2001-2009. In 2012, Waylett faced legal troubles for his participation in the 2011 England Riots.

8. Josh Herdman played Gregory Goyle in all of the ‘Harry Potter’ films. Today the actor is the husband of Jessica Herdman and a father of two children. In 2016, Herdman started practicing mixed martial arts for his amateur MMA career.

9. Alfie Enoch played Dean Thomas in the film series and if you recognize him now, it’s probably because you’re watching the ABC drama, ‘How To Get Away with Murder.’ Enoch plays Wes Gibbins in the highly acclaimed 2014-present television series.

10. Devon Murray is the Irish actor that played Seamus Finnigan. Since then, the 27-year-old actor has continued in the film business and appeared in several documentaries.
