The test is very similar to the pregnancy test and you can see the results on your phone! Namely what we are trying to say is that, soon, men will be able to test their fertility at home. The test, which could be on the shelves within two years will include reactive dots changing color to indicate “swimming ability” of the sperm cells and their concentration within the sample.
Men can then use an app on their phone to make a picture of the test, which the app will analyze and give you detailed results.
Scientists behind this project also plan to be able to help men watch their diet, and also make them see just how the diet, the amount of smoking and alcohol consumption can affect their sperm count. They will be able to do all of this through their phone application.
Reca Nosrati, from the University of Toronto, pointed out that this test will spare men the embarrassment of having to visit a doctor in order to make sure that there is something wrong. “We are currently working on massive clinical testing devices to ensure that we can trust this test and make sure that this test develops as a commercial product,” said Reca.
According to these scientist, when developed as a commercial product, the price of this test would be around 10 dollars, which is not much if it will spare you from the embarrassment of going to the doctors.
